Captain America: Civil War
Following a recent panel at a community college in Cleveland, the Russos chatted with the audience afterwards, and as one of the attendees passed on to Reddit, the duo mentioned that fans are going to be pleased with the first trailer once it’s finished. They said:
The trailer is almost complete. With just a few special effects left to edit in, it should be out soon. You're really going to enjoy it.
Although the Captain America: Civil War trailer (or at least a version of it) has reportedly already been shown in private screenings, when it’s being released for the public has been a mystery. It was originally reported that the preview was going to debut with Sony’s Spectre, but obviously that proved not to be the case. The next movie that it’s rumored to be attached to is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which makes sense given that it’s a fellow Disney release. The Mouse House loves synergy, so if they can plug the next Marvel entry during what may end up being the biggest movie of the year, then they’ll take advantage of that. Still, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is over a month away, and that’s a long time to wait, especially if there’s only a few special effects left to edit in. Maybe Marvel will cut fans a break and throw it online in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed.
Just like Marvel’s other teaser trailers, the first look at Captain America: Civil War will obviously need to touch upon the main elements of the story without giving away too much of the plot. Important beats to cover include a glimpse at Steve Rogers’ frame of mind at the beginning of the movie, setting up the international incident that leads the world’s governments to establishing a system of accountability for superhumans, teasing the conflict between the superheroes, introducing main antagonist Baron Zemo, and quick shots of new heroes like Black Panther and Spider-Man. Whew, that’s a lot to fit in, but there’s a reason why this movie has been affectionately nicknamed Avengers
